Normally I finish pieces fairly quickly so I wanted to do something a little more time consuming. This is what I came up with.
Schoolboy Q Two
Hairir 2
Hairir 1
Airir 5
A quick personal piece out of my sketchbook, reviving this idea from 2009.
Flying Lotus, Thundercat & Teebs
One of my goals since college has been to see Flying Lotus perform live. Last night I accomplished that mission, along with seeing performances by his friends Thundercat and Teebs at the 9:30 Club. All three were fantastic and my ears still haven’t recovered yet. Seriously, I think I need to invest in earplugs next time. You can see more photos on my Flickr account.
Ya Ya Ya Ya
I felt the need to draw Schoolboy Q, so I did.
Isaiah Zagar’s Magic Garden
After leaving NYC we stayed in Philadelphia with a friend. While there we visited Isaiah Zagar’s Magic Garden. You can learn more about the space here and see more of my photos for it on my Flickr account.
New York City, April 2013
Somehow I managed to take more photos on a one day trip to NYC last Saturday than I did on a two day trip last year. Here are a few of my favorites. You can see more on my Flickr account.
The Wedding of Sarah & Teddy
On March 23rd I finally got married to my wife(!) Sarah. After about a year of planning it feels great to see our family and friends enjoy the hard work Sarah, her father and many others put into making this event special. I personally had the chance to design a few things, including the save-the-date, website, invitation and program which you can see below. I also created an illustration (above) for the portrait art show which included artwork from our family and friends. It’s been an amazing few days. Certainly one of the highlights of my life.
Ain’t That Good News – A Tribute to Sam Cooke
This is an album cover I illustrated for Potholes In My Blog’s tribute to Sam Cooke, a compilation of beats sampling his music. You can stream the music below. Also, smoking is bad.
Emay – Into It
This is an album cover for Emay’s Potholes Music debut Into It, a selection of beats made using samples pull from the music of Ramona Falls. For the artwork I decided to pull inspiration from the work of Theo Ellsworth who was responsble for the cover of Ramona Falls’ album “Intuit”.
Robot Soup
This is an album cover I illustrated for Potholes In My Blog’s Robot Soup, a compilation featuring instrumental tracks from the likes of James Pants, Suzi Analog, Kidkanevil and others. Those who donate $5 (which goes to charity in support of music education) will receive the 11×17 poster below.
